Gerald’s Donuts.

Arabi can seem far away for most New Orleanians. But when you’re hungry at 3am, there aren’t many places in the city that are too far away from Gerald’s Donuts.

Open 24 hours, Gerald’s is full of life at any hour. It’s short counter and crammed tables are always hosting people who have something to say—to the waitresses, you, or the universe.

Most diners that stay open late only offer bland towers of beige food. But at Gerald’s the atmosphere and personality of makes its way onto the menu.

The burger at Gerald’s is a marvel, especially after midnight. Seasoned with their own blend, Gerald’s burger is juicy, and fresh in a way that won’t remind you of Tony’s. It’s packed with herbs when it comes out from the busy kitchen. The fries and onion rings won’t disappoint either.

If there are foods featured in the name of the restaurant, or displayed on any signage, I normally make it a point to order exactly what they’re telling me to. This step has always served me well, and definitely applies to Gerald’s Donuts.

Fluffy with a crisp outer edge, the donuts from Gerald’s are a great way to end a night. It is also a great way to start your morning. Waking up to donuts you bought the night before is a great surprise–especially when they’re from Gerald’s.
